If you do want to step into the modifications scene then the Z is an easy car to flatter your sense of taste.

Cupra Formentor VZ2 1. The clutch is heavy and has a very definite catch point so it can take a little getting used to. The handling, steering, suspension, etc. Point and go. IMO it has a perfect combination of power and handling, which put it out of reach of the Scions, Hyundais, and Mustangs of the world. I have a non running 86 zx that as soon as it is running, I'm going to try to trade for a z. I had a friend who had a 90's zx and he would have to literally go sideways leaving work in the snow because the highway has such a bank curve on it. So no go in the snow, that's what a Jeep is for ;. So yes, you should buy one. But as Paragraph said, it will probably have been beat on a bit, give it a good once over.
